Privacy Policy
Version v2026-09-18, Effective September 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Fenix Logic Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use Oikana, a free family calendar web application (the “Service”). We are based in the United States, and the Service is intended for use by adults in the United States.
The short version: we collect only what is needed to run your family's shared calendar, tasks, and prayer wall. We do not show ads, we do not sell your data, and we do not currently use analytics or tracking tools.
Beta: everything is deleted every night
Oikana is a public beta. Every night an automatic reset deletes all of it — your account and login, your family and everyone in it, events, tasks, lists, and prayer requests. That is a deletion, not an archive: it is not reversible, and we cannot restore anything for you. Please do not put anything here that you need to keep, and do not use prayer requests to record anything you would mind losing. The one thing kept on purpose is the dated record that you agreed to these documents, described in section 5. Copies of deleted data may survive in our providers' routine backups for a short time before being overwritten.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, your name, and a password. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, Supabase. Your password is managed by Supabase and is stored in hashed form; we never see it in plain text.
Family information
When you set up a family, we store the family name and the names and display colors of the family members you add. Parents or other adult account holders may add family members, including children, by name. Children do not get their own accounts and do not provide information to us directly; the adult who enters a child's information controls it and can edit or remove it at any time.
When you invite another adult (for example, your spouse) to join your family, we store the name and email address you enter for them, along with a unique invitation link that you share with them yourself. We do not send marketing email to people you invite.
Content you create
- Calendar events, such as titles, descriptions, locations, dates and times, and which family members are assigned.
- Tasks, such as titles, descriptions, due dates, assignees, and whether they are complete.
- Prayer requests, including the request text, category, the family member or event it relates to, whether it has been answered, and any answered-prayer testimony you write.
Sensitive information in prayer requests
Prayer requests may reveal religious beliefs, health conditions, or other personal matters about you or others. Please share only what you are comfortable storing in the Service. Prayer requests on the family prayer wall are visible to all members of your family. You can mark a prayer as private; private prayers are visible to you, to the family member the prayer is shared with (if any), and to family administrators (typically parents). We use this information only to display it to you and your family.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies that keep you signed in and secure your session. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or analytics cookies.
Technical information
Like most websites, our hosting and infrastructure providers automatically process basic technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and request logs) to deliver the Service, keep it secure, and diagnose problems.
Records of your agreement
- Records of your agreement to these terms, including the date, the version you accepted, your IP address and your browser, kept for as long as your account exists plus 3 years. If you delete your account, we keep only that record — the date, the version, your IP address, your browser, and the email address and account id you held at the time — for 3 years, and then delete it. Nothing else about you is kept.
2. How we use information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To show your family's calendar, tasks, and prayer requests to you and your family members.
- To let you invite and manage family members.
- To send account-related emails, such as email confirmation and password reset messages.
- To maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.
- To comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share information only in these limited ways:
- With your family. Content in your family (events, tasks, family members, and non-private prayers) is visible to the members of that family.
- With service providers that host and operate the Service for us:
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting (United States).
- Vercel — web application hosting.
- For legal reasons, if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or us.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.
Daily Bible verse
The daily verse is retrieved from the public Bible API at bible.helloao.org. Our servers request the verse text; no personal information about you or your family is sent to that service.
4. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and children cannot create accounts. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Parents may enter limited information about their children (such as a first name and a display color) to organize family schedules, and parents control that information. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or provided us personal information directly, please contact us at support@oikana.com and we will delete it.
5. Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can edit or delete events, tasks, and prayer requests, and family administrators can remove family members, directly in the app.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. If you are the only account holder in a family, that family and its data are deleted. If another account holder remains, the family and its shared data stay with them, your login is removed, and your private prayer requests are deleted. You can also email us at support@oikana.com from the address associated with your account, and we will handle the request within a reasonable time (generally within 30 days), except where we must keep certain information to comply with the law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Residual copies may remain in routine backups for a limited period before being overwritten.
One thing outlives your account on purpose: the record that you agreed to these documents. It holds the date, which version you accepted, your IP address and browser, and the email address and account id you had at the time — so that each of us can show what was agreed and when. We keep it for 3 years after you delete your account and then delete it automatically. It is never used to contact you or to rebuild your account.
6. Your choices and rights
You may access, correct, or delete your information through the app or by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws, such as the right to request a copy of your information. We will respond to verified requests as required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
7. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords managed by our authentication provider, and access controls that limit family data to members of that family. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
9. Contact us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or want to make a privacy request, contact Fenix Logic Inc. at support@oikana.com.
